Where our bin data comes from
Bin Space doesn't guess your bin night. Every schedule is read from something a council actually published - an address lookup, an open data layer, or in a lot of cases a PDF calendar. This page lists every council we know about, what its schedule came from, and where we fall short.
We publish the gaps too. If we can't answer for an address, we'd rather say so than show you a day we invented.

Each shape is a local government area, coloured by whether we can answer for it. The table below says the same thing in words.

A word of warning about this map: it's coloured by area, and most of Australia's land is close to empty. The pale middle is real - those councils genuinely aren't covered - but they're also home to very few people. Counted by residents rather than square kilometres, the figure is the one at the top of this page.

What the statuses mean
- Covered
- We can answer for addresses in this council. Some are read live from the council's own lookup; others are bundled from a calendar the council published, which is why the table shows when that document runs out.
- Partly covered
- We answer for some of the council but not all of it, and we know exactly which part is missing - it's named in the table. This usually happens when a council splits a town into collection zones but only publishes the split as a picture, with no boundary anyone can read.
- Source known, not built yet
- We've found where the data lives but haven't written the connector. These answer "not covered" rather than pretending to have a schedule.
- Not covered
- We haven't found a published schedule for this council yet.

If your bin day looks wrong, tell us in the app - there's a Report a wrong schedule option on your schedule screen - or email support@bin-space.app. A wrong day is a bug we want to fix, and reports are how we find out a council changed its calendar.
Council data belongs to the councils that publish it. We read their published schedules to tell residents when their bins go out, and we link back to the source in every row above.
